Anniversary Trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Twenty years ago Scott and I met at a gas station in Medicine Bow, Wyoming.  I was working at a fish hatchery near Como Bluff, Wyoming (not a town - just a place in the middle of nowhere) and Scott was the Game Warden in Medicine Bow (population 300).  I came into town to put gas in my car and get a hamburger and struck up a conversation with Scott at the pumps.  This was a Friday and on Monday morning he showed up at the fish hatchery on Game and Fish 'business'.  The rest is history.

This year we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary by spending a few days in Jackson Hole at Spring Creek Ranch. It's a far cry from Medicine Bow and a great place to stay.  It's very peaceful as it's outside of the town of Jackson, but close enough for a run into town.  Here we are, all dressed up for dinner at Spring Creek's restaurant, the Granary.

Spring Creek Ranch is comfortable and beautiful.  I would call the accommodations 'upscale' rustic-western.  It sits high on a hill overlooking the Teton Mountains and the lush valley below.  It has a great vibe about it.  Our room had a nice deck with a view of the Grand Teton, a river rock fireplace....it was a wonderfully romantic getaway.

We didn't have time to hang out at the pool, but it's heated (a must for Wyoming).

Hiking from String (Cheese) Lake to Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park. If you hike from String Lake to the waterfalls at Jenny Lake, there are only a few people on this trail (as opposed to the Jenny Lake Trail.)  It was a quick hike but we saw wildlife - a weasel darting back and forth across the trail.  It was a definite highlight, since we it wasn't shy and we watched it for quite a while.

Sunset on the Tetons and the amazing view from our deck.
