Jackson Hole - Prez Day Weekend

The Tetons, socked in.
I've probably said it a million times before in previous blogs, but we are so lucky to live where we do.  Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Jackson Hole are just one mountain pass away from our small town of Lander.  We went to Jackson last weekend to celebrate Scott's 48th birthday.  Funny enough, this past weekend Ben said, "Mommy, it's like our second home."  Well, maybe, if we were multi-millionaires!

A typical Browning weekend, we packed in as much fun as we possibly stand. The tally: 1) went to the "Outrageous Air Show" at Snow King 2) watched a Moose hockey game 3) went to the rec center for swimming 4) played on the snow sculptures downtown 5) went downhill skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort 6) ate at The Bunnery (best breakfast spot, hands down) 7) went on a horse-drawn sleigh ride on the National Elk Refuge. 8) Played the longest checkers game ever  9) Stopped to watch some kite skiers and boarders on Togwotee Pass 10) Came home completely wiped out Monday night and went to the Calle Mambo concert anyway.  I'm not sure why, but I couldn't get anyone to dance with me, not even Laura.

National Elk Refuge, a must-do in Jackson.  Dress very, very warmly.
It's almost always windy out on the Refuge.

Laura's favorite thing to do: make her own trails through the trees.  Scott and I decided that we couldn't turn fast or sharp enough to keep up with the kids in the trees so we mostly met them at the bottom.  It wasn't all fun and games, though, as Scott had to fish one child out of the creek when a little boy accidentally slid under the orange safety fence.

Tip: you can get a 'beginner' ticket for $10 (for your child) and $10 for each adult skiing with a child at Jackson Hole MR.  For use on two of the lifts, Eagle's Rest and Teewinot.

BUT, all in all it's fantastic to come home to Lander after playing tourist for the weekend.....
